Thank you

First of all, a very gracious thank you to all those who now own a copy of our new album. Without you guys and girls we wouldn’t be doing what we do best and I certainly wouldn’t be writing this blog right now. We are overwhelmed with the positive response and trust that you will enjoy the way the songs grow with you as they do with us.

If you don’t happen to have a copy yet, all you need is an internet connection and access to a highly illegal downlo, NO NO! – get down to your favourite record store or if mp3s are you’re thing head over to iTunes! Otherwise we may be forced to play one last show on Jacko’s rooftop or something. Did I mention highly illegal…

Well we’ve been busy bodies in camp Birds, particularly in the past few weeks doing press surrounding the albums release. Sparki and I caught up with plenty of our media pals to either be filmed, recorded, pre-recorded, studio bound or poked and prodded with the common goal of talking crap. Put the two of us in a room with Chit Chat and you would swear there’s never been so much ginger go live to air before!

Right now there’s a few emails going back and forth between the band as to what we should include in the setlist for our upcoming tour in Sep/Oct. We all agree that these shows at these amazing venues are going to be our most extensive to date and this set is going to be a journey from start to finish.

So what tunes are going to make the trip around the country and what unlucky compositions will be left behind? Perhaps we can see some demands or crazy reasoning on the facebook page…really we don’t mind a good argument. Although they’re usually settled by whoever is the loudest…so beware coz Sparki usually wins!

Take care and we’ll see y’all soon.

Homecoming

I know it’s cliché, but there’s an inviting and almost kooky presence about a hometown crowd and show. Maybe it had something to do with the fact some of us have parents that bring a deck chair into a club at capacity and park their ass where they see fit, or a 60 something that battles their way through the crowds to make front and centre or just the excited flailing of arms up in the top tiers. We just try not to make eye contact otherwise mistakes are bound to be made!

In other news, as Jacko spends 23 waking hours each day on facebook and other chat related programs, there is a ritual like practise that dates back as far as last year, where if Jacko leaves his computer or his phone alone and still logged in, then his account gets sabotaged by any one of us. All sorts of posts are then left for the rest of the community to comment on, but alas it’s usually only a few minutes these days before he finds out on his way to make a status update. What a time to be alive!

Sweet As!

After soaking up the Auckland scenery and greeting Robin Hood with mixed reviews the night before, the band set up at camp in the EMI offices this morning for a bit of an acoustic hit out. Now we’re a relatively sober band these days and try not to drink before lunch time, but the good folk from The Rock and the rest of the departments were well ahead of us. The casual meet and greet looked like we really were just going to have to stay a little bit longer once 18 pizzas and more drinks came out. Luckily for us sound check at the Kings Arms Tavern was beckoning and we were back on path.

Fast forward to after the show (that had to have been one of the sweatiest on record) and holy shit did Auckland represent. We virtually played the same set as the shows in Oz. before hand and the crowd did not miss a word or skip a beat. There were really good vibes going into this show and the brief three night stay was a very welcoming one, but tonight has perhaps suggested we will be visiting again sooner rather than later. Choice as.
