Birds of Tokyo have announced that recent Triple J Unearthed Feature Artist and WAMI ‘Best Rock Song’ Winners, Sons Of Rico will be joining them for a special one-off show in Broome on Thursday 19TH May at The Mangrove Resort Hotel proudly presented by WAFM and The Broome Advertiser.
Varied and incredibly dynamic, Sons of Rico are a new force on the Australian scene, setting chins wagging, stages alight and the airwaves aflutter since the release of their debut album ‘Reactions’ late last year. The album is filled with retro sounds and singer Alex MacRea’s breathy, organ-like falsetto. “The album ‘Reactions’ is a wonderful fusion of grandiose rock, indie character and sugary pop.” states Grant McCulloch from The Wire Magazine, The West Australian. The indie five piece introduced themselves to the unsuspecting public with singles ‘This Madness’ and ‘Miss Adventure’ which are currently spearheading the national travels of the band’s acclaimed live show. Described as ‘erratic brilliance’ with a ‘wiry jive’, serve up pop on the rocks with a pint of sex.
Having just returned from doing a run of live shows over in Canada, ARIA Award Winners Birds Of Tokyo immediately hit the stage and headlined Adelaide’s annual Clipsal 500 plus Melbourne’s F1 Grand Prix ‘Sidetracked’ concert last weekend. The band’s jammed packed upcoming touring schedule includes triple j’s ‘One Night Stand’, the Groovin The Moo run of dates and a handful of Queensland shows plus Darwin’s Bass In the Grass Festival.
